Helping with the re-homing of Pet Birds
|
After much discussion amongst the executives of the Parrot Club of Southwestern Ontario, we've developed the following protocol and procedures with regards to the re-homing and/or fundamental readjustment of the pet birds in the home.
|
Option 1
Person to person
- Because of potential disease issues and cost of care, we prefer to keep the bird in the original home until a new home can be found.
- A complete history of the bird and information regarding the continuing of care must be available. This will allow the adopter to be comfortable adopting. We will direct current owners to the appropriate forms with which to provide the birds information.
- Ultimately we hope that through club support of its members that we can help you and your bird to achieve the right outcome whether it is by remaining in your home or finding a suitable new home.
- The club or organization does this with no remuneration because it fills the mandate of its charter.
- Online checklist available to aid parrot owners.
Option 2
Urgent Care Surrender
A group of 4 executive members (a quorum), including one director will make a decision on whether the placement of the bird is urgent or not.
Protocol to be determined.
|
We the Parrot Club of Southwestern Ontario are willing to work with the Rescue organization like-minded through knowledge and support in hopes to achieve these goals.
|
We thank all involved in this overwhelming project for their participation in developing this protocol and procedures.
